International Meditation Day
« As the 21st of December marks World Meditation Day, let us unite in meditation on love and compassion. Let us open ourselves, even if only for a brief moment, to an unconditional and genuine sense of loving-kindness and compassion for all beings.
In that brief opening, a quiet yet profound transformation may begin. »
— Khenchen Tenpa Yungdrung

On December 21, World Meditation Day highlights—at the level of the United Nations—the importance of meditation and inner peace as practical resources in the face of today’s challenges. In this spirit, the Yungdrung Bön tradition naturally aligns with this movement, emphasizing the value of presence, attention, and compassion as forces for transformation.
As a prelude to this day, on December 10, Khenchen Tenpa Yungdrung, representing the Yungdrung Bön tradition, took part as a speaker in the roundtable “Advancing World Meditation Day,” moderated by Professor Mark Williams (Professor of Clinical Psychology, University of Oxford). Other speakers included Sister Dinh Nghiem, Father Cyprian Consiglio (a Camaldolese monk), Chief Rabbi Eric Ackerman (Jewish Community of Geneva), Swami Vedanishthananda ji (Vedantic Centre Geneva), and Aïcha Redouane (singer and interpreter of Arabic Sufi poetry).
Following this event, the United Nations prepared a report on the Universality of Meditation (in English), as well as an article that you can consult below.
