Pönlop Tsangpa Tenzin Rinpoche will give a teaching on the practice of Shine — literally "peaceful abiding," also known as śamatha in Sanskrit — based on the texts of the Atri and Yetri Thasel traditions.

Pönlop Tsangpa Tenzin Rinpoche will offer a teaching on the practice of shiné — literally “peaceful abiding,” also known as śamatha in Sanskrit — based on the texts of the Atri and Yethri Thasel traditions.

The Atri cycle, one of the major Dzogchen teachings of the Bön tradition, distinguishes between two forms of shiné meditation:

  • Tshänchä: focusing the mind on a substantial object,

  • Tshänmed: remaining in a stable meditative state without an object.

Pönlop Tsangpa Tenzin Rinpoche is the head teacher of the Bön Dialectics School at Triten Norbutse Monastery in Nepal. He is well loved by Western students for his enthusiasm and clarity, making profound subjects accessible and engaging. His visit to Paris is a source of great joy.

The teaching will be translated from Tibetan into English, and then from English into French. It is open to all participants, both beginners and long-time practitioners.
